1 dead, several injured in multi-vehicle crash involving semi in Dallas

DALLAS, TX – One person died and several others suffered injuries due to a multi-vehicle crash involving a semi that happened on the LBJ Freeway on Saturday.

WFAA reports that the serious collision happened in the highway’s 11100 block shortly before 6:30 p.m. on May 30.

Authorities say that the driver of a blue sedan swerved across several lanes of traffic in an attempt to exit the freeway. The sedan struck a concrete barrier and then a traffic attenuator before being hit by a white pickup and a semi truck. The crash caused the sedan to erupt into flames.

A passenger in the sedan was ejected from the vehicle and suffered critical injuries. That individual is currently in an area hospital, as is the sedan’s driver. Another passenger died at the scene.

The pickup’s driver and two passengers are also hospitalized. We do not know their current conditions.
